Medoro Dati and Vilelma Branchini's Genealogy
Denise Dati Mueller has been researching our Dati's Italian heritage since the early 1990s. About four years ago, Denise and I started to work together as I was compiling the history of the Dati family in America to answer the question: "Why did Medoro come to America?" My work resulted in a 100-page photo book, and Denise's work is the basis for the book that is posted on this page as a PDF: Medoro Dati and Vilelma Branchini's Genealogy. This book includes all the documents Denise found in her research of our family in Italy along with documents and photographs of cities where Medoro and Vilelma grew-up and lived their early adulthood years that Denise and I obtained during our two-week genealogy trip to Italy in September 2015.
The following book is our first attempt to create a book that can be shared with family and friends. The book is a 1st draft and not a final copy as we have already identified more documents that we need to include in the book along with additional documents that will result from our ongoing research. In addition, we still need to spell-check the book, complete writing captions, reorganize and index the book for clarity, and include the recommendations from those who will read this 1st draft.
The book is posted even though it is a 1st draft, because we would like the help of our family. Your help can come in many ways: (1) Reading, editing, and providing your comments would be great as we do want to make sure the book is readable for everyone. (2) If you have experience with type selection and book layout, we’d love your insights. (3) Do you have a special talent that might enhance the book, such as, an illustrator talent? If you would like to help with the book in any way, please contact me via e-mail: fregetto@yahoo.com. Our goal is to finalize the book by April 2018.
Our ultimate goal is to produce a two-volume set. The first volume will be a final copy of the present book which will focus on our Italian heritage and the title will be modified to read: Medoro Dati and Vilelma Branchini's Genealogy (Italian Heritage). The title for the 2nd volume will be Medoro Dati and Vilelma Branchini's Genealogy (In America) and will include all the information, photos, and documents from the 100-page photo book that I produced as well as additional records obtained after publishing the photo book. I would like to produce a third volume with the help of the Dati family. The title for the 3rd volume will be Medoro and Vilelma Dati's Legacy. According to my records, Medoro and Vilelma have over 120 direct descendants and all of us have made significant contributions to life in America. This contribution is quite a legacy for two humble immigrants who arrived in America as a married couple in 1914, and their legacy would make an interesting story to tell.
